Rubeus Hagrid is as much as twice as tall as the average man. He loves magical creatures, particularly unusual or even dangerous ones although he usually insists most of them are only dangerous due to a handler's disrespect or ignorance. J. K. Rowling has said that Rubeus Hagrid has little interest in tame magical creatures because of the lack of a challenge, although he has a cowardly boarhound called Fang. He befriends Harry Potter and his friends and looks out for them. His friends do the same for him. He is one of the first characters to imply that the idea of thinking of wizards as "pure-bloods" and "half-bloods" is a dated concept. Rubeus Hagrid is known for his friendliness, and thick accent.

Rubeus Hagrid has a difficult year at Hogwarts. First, his three favorite students and Hogwarts friends have dropped his class (Care of Magical Creatures). Second, Hagrid must contend with the death of Aragog, the giant spider who lives in the forest.

Rubeus Hagrid has a big heart, especially for magical creatures. No one knows them or cares for them like he does. At first, we are not that interested in the fact that Aragog has died, but Harry helps us understand just how devastating this blow is to Hagrid:

Madame Olympe Maxime and Rubeus Hagrid

During the Triwizard Tournament, Hagrid had a romantic attraction towards Madame Olympe Maxime, of Beauxbatons Academy. They were often seen together, talking and walking around the grounds and were seen dancing together during the Yule Ball. After the school year was over, they left together and travelled to find the giants in the North. Olympe Maxime was also seen comforting Rubeus Hagrid during the funeral of Albus Dumbledore. The current status of their relationship is unknown. As Rowling stated that Rubeus Hagrid never got married, it can be assumed that their relationship did not work out.

When I was child and I listen to stories from my mum. But those days that was not vital thing. But I used to remember stories and make those into dreams. And I have developed those dreams to some extend too. But once I reach certain age I started feeling matured and I wanted to behave like a matured boy. And I started to get rid of my dreams and started focusing on future.Rubeus Hagrid When I came across stories like harry potter, my childish dream had came to mind. Those stories I heard from mum seems to be in some edges of harry potter.

Especially the dreams of giants present in the mountain sides. This is because I often go to my grandma’s house and it’s farm fields near to mountains. I often go with my granddad, roaming alone in the sides of the fields and staring at mountains nearby. Every day I ask my granddad about the mountains and people live in them. Rubeus Hagrid Story.

Hagrid first appears in the series on Harry's eleventh birthday when he rescues him from The Dursleys, informs him about his wizarding ancestry, and helps him make his way to Hogwarts.

Hagrid has a deep connection with the animal kingdom and often finds himself in possession of rare or magical creatures. It was his keeping of the dangerous acromantula Aragog that linked him with Moaning Myrtle's death and the original opening of the Chamber of Secrets in the 1940s. The accusation was false and, though Hagrid's wand was broken and he was forbidden from using magic, he kept the wand hidden inside an umbrella and continued to use it when necessary. In Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, the truth about Tom Riddle's involvement results in the clearing of Hagrid's name.

Throughout the series, Hagrid is one of the few family-like connections Harry is able to establish in the wizarding world. Hagrid lays his life on the line to save Harry on numerous occasions.

The Second Wizarding War

At some point Rubeus Hagrid house was repaired since he hosted a "Support Harry Potter" party there.

Rubeus Hagrid was among the thirteen members of the Order of the Phoenix, led by Alastor Moody, to go to the Dursley house to retrieve Harry Potter before his seventeenth birthday. The plan included six of Harry's friends and other Order of the Phoenix members (Ron, Hermione, Fleur Delacour, Fred Weasley, George Weasley, and Mundungus Fletcher) taking Polyjuice Potion to confuse any Death Eaters that tried to follow. Hagrid was given the important task of protecting the real Harry as he rode with him in the sidecar of Sirius Black's motorcycle. Arthur Weasley had helped Hagrid make several adjustments to the bike, including a button that produced dragon's fire, one that produced a net, Rubeus Hagrid and another that produced a solid wall, all behind the bike. He was able to keep the Death Eaters at bay, with the help of Harry's wandwork, but Lord Voldemort found him upon the discovery that Hagrid's Harry was the real one. In the struggle that followed, the motorcycle was torn apart and Hagrid had to dive from the bike at a Death Eater, falling a great distance to the ground. He survived however, as did Harry, successfully completing the task. Since Hagrid has a history of having trouble keeping secrets, evidently, Fleur Delacour, suspected Hagrid was the one who had unintentionally informed the Death Eaters of the plan to take him out of his aunt and uncle's house, although this was later revealed not to be the case. Hagrid's pets

Hagrid keeps and has kept a variety of pets, including some which the Wizarding community considers impossible to domesticate. They are not always wrong. Rowling has said that Hagrid has little interest in tamer magical creatures because of the lack of a challenge, although he has a cowardly, albeit large dog (boarhound) named Fang. Aragog

Aragog is an Acromantula - an enormous, sapient, talking spider that made a unique clicking noise as he moved in search of prey. Hagrid raises him from an egg as a Hogwarts student, keeping him inside a cupboard.Rubeus Hagrid In his third year at Hogwarts, Hagrid is caught talking to Aragog in the dungeons by Tom Riddle. Riddle then alleges that the creature is the "Monster of Slytherin," and that Hagrid, by extension, has opened the Chamber and released it. In fact, the "Monster" is a basilisk which Riddle, the real Heir of Slytherin, has released.Rubeus Hagrid

After Hagrid's expulsion, Aragog lives in the Forbidden Forest. Hagrid even finds him a mate, Mosag, with whom Aragog has many offspring and becomes the patriarch of an entire colony of Acromantulas. He remains grateful to Hagrid and keeps his carnivorous children from attacking him when he comes to visit,Hagrid but this does not extend to anyone else, as Harry, Ron, and Fang found out in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Hagrid has told them to simply "follow the spiders." Doing as he wishes, they find Aragog, who reveals clues to the true identity of the Monster of Slytherin. Next, Aragog and his children try to eat Harry, Ron, and Fang, who are only saved at the last minute by Mr Weasley's flying car that has been lost in the forest a few months prior. Aragog remains in the forest for the rest of his life, eventually dying in Half-Blood Prince of old age. Hagrid retrieves Aragog's body from the forest, fearing that his children would devour his body.

Later in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Aragog's offspring return during the Battle at Hogwarts; having been driven from the Forbidden Forest, they begin to attack Death Eaters and Hogwarts' inhabitants indiscriminately. Hagrid endangers himself and, potentially, other Hogwarts' inhabitants by attempting to protect Aragog's offspring from harm, in fact being captured by them and taken to Voldemort.

Aragog was voiced by Julian Glover in the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

Rubeus Hagrid (Character) from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001)

rubeus hagrid enters the story almost immediately as a mentor-figure to Harry and his friends. In the first book, Rubeus Hagrid is the one who retrieves Harry from his Aunt and Uncle, informs Harry that he is a wizard, gifts Harry with the boy's beloved snowy owl, Hedwig.

Rubeus Hagrid is a Half-Giant (father is human, mother is giant; Fridwulfa) and gentle as a lamb, unless you insult headmaster Dumbledore in front of him. He always had a love for and a gift for caring for magical creatures, becoming a teacher of the subject in the third book (POA). This love extended to a giant spider (acromantula) named Aragog and countless others. During Hagrid's third year in Hogwarts, Aragog was accused of opening the Chamber of Secrets, resulting in Hagrid's expulsion from the school and his wand being broken. The two halves of his wand are now in a pink umbrella which we saw light a fire and give Dudley a pig tail in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Dumbledore cared for Hagrid after his expulsion, arranged for him to stay on as gamekeeper, and said he would trust Hagrid with his life. In fact, Dumbledore trusted Hagrid with delivering the infant Harry Potter from the ruins of his parents home to his aunt and uncles' home. Hagrid seemed to have owned Sirius Black's flying motorcycle after he was arrested because that's what he used to deliver Harry and to take Harry safely away from his aunt and uncles' home to the Tonks family home in the seventh book (DH).Rubeus Hagrid

During Harry's second year (COS) when the chamber of secrets was open, Hagrid was sent to Azkaban because they thought it was him who opened it, just like they thought he opened it during his third year. When Harry defeated Tom Riddle and the Basilisk, he was released because they knew it wasn't Hagrid who opened it. Ron sent the release papers to Azkaban with Errol. This cause them to be delayed because of Errol's old age.

During Harry's third year (POA), Rubeus Hagrid gets a few hippogriffs to show to his Care of Magical Creatures class. One of them which he grew close to was named Buckbeak and attacked Draco Malfoy in it's defense. This caused Lucius Malfoy to order Buckbeak to be sentenced to death. Buckbeak was eventually saved, however, in order to help save Sirius Black. Harry and Hermione saved Buckbeak by going back in time using Hermione's time turner. Hagrid and Cornelius Fudge thought he escaped on his own, but Dumbledore knew they saved him because it was he who gave Harry and Hermione the idea to go back in time. Sirius Black flew away from Hogwarts into hiding on the back of Buckbeak. Buckbeak eventually became Sirius's because he needed him to stay on the move. In Harry's fifth year (OOTP), we find out that Hagrid has a half-brother who is a giant named Grawp. Hagrid and Grawp grow very close. In Harry's sixth year, Aragog dies and the only people who show up to his funeral are Harry and Professor Slughorn.Rubeus Hagrid

Grawp

Grawp was Hagrid's younger half-brother; they both have the same mother, Fridwulfa. Hagrid and Grawp meet when he travels north to visit the giants. There Grawp is being picked on, since he is a small giant, and Hagrid decides to take him back to Hogwarts with him. Hagrid attempts to civilise Grawp, but his first attempts do not make much progress since Grawp is a slow learner and does not know much English. Once back at Hogwarts, Hagrid keeps Grawp tied to a tree in the Forbidden Forest. When Harry and Hermione are saved by Grawp in the Forbidden Forest he is upset that he has not seen Hagrid recently. By the time of Dumbledore's funeral, Grawp is calm and dressed nicely and attempts to comfort Hagrid by patting him on the head. He engages in the Battle of Hogwarts and wrestles with the giants brought to the battle by Voldemort.

Fourth to sixth books

In Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire it is revealed that Hagrid is of mixed wizard and giant parentage, his mother having been the giantess Fridwulfa, who left his wizard father when Hagrid was a baby. Since giants have a reputation for being horribly brutal, and were once allies of Voldemort, Hagrid keeps his parentage a secret and allows people to imagine other reasons for his great size (drinking a bottle of Skele-Gro when he did not need it). Hagrid's parentage is exposed in the Daily Prophet by Rita Skeeter,Rubeus Hagrid who portrays him as dangerous (because of his like of aggressive creatures) and incompetent. Hagrid is gravely affected by this and attempts to resign from his post as teacher, though Dumbledore does not accept his resignation. During the novel, Rubeus Hagrid develops a romantic interest with Olympe Maxime – another half-giant witch and Headmistress of the French magic school Beauxbatons. Hagrid is also one of the very few people that, since the beginning, believes in Harry's word that he did not apply to enter the Triwizard Tournament. Later in the book,Rubeus Hagrid Alastor Moody (impersonated by Barty Crouch Jr) suggests Hagrid should show Harry that the first task of the Tournament would involve dragons. Hagrid is absent during the first part of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. The character later reveals to Harry, Ron and Hermione that he and Madame Maxime travelled across Europe together on a mission from the Order,Rubeus Hagrid planning to find giants and convince them to ally themselves with the good side and with Dumbledore; however, Death Eaters also find the giants and managed to get them to Voldemort's side. Hagrid is attacked by giants during the mission, and saved by Maxime. Rubeus Hagrid and Maxime eventually part on the journey home because of Maxime's exasperation with Grawp, Hagrid's half-brother who he had found and was attempting to bring home with them. Grawp,Rubeus Hagrid who wanted to stay with the giants, seriously hurt Hagrid. Rubeus Hagrid introduces his half-brother to Harry and Hermione, and asks them to take care of him after he leaves Hogwarts. High Inquisitor of Hogwarts Dolores Umbridge supervises the classes of all the members of the Hogwarts staff, including Hagrid's, and she looks for an excuse to fire him, as Rubeus Hagrid is close to Dumbledore. Towards the end of the book, Umbridge and other Ministry officials attempt to arrest Hagrid. The latter manages to escape, but Professor McGonagall is injured whilst trying to defend him. Finally,Rubeus Hagrid with Dumbledore's post as Headmaster restored, Hagrid returns to Hogwarts.

In Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Harry, Ron, and Hermione are no longer students of Care of Magical Creatures, and Hagrid gets both angry and disappointed with them during the first part of the book, but he soon realises that it is not because they do not like him. Later in the novel, Aragog dies, and Rubeus Hagrid risks his life to recover the acromantula's body to give it a "proper" funeral. After the funeral, he and Horace Slughorn drink excessive fire whiskey, and Harry takes advantage of this situation to retrieve a certain memory from Slughorn. Towards the end of the book,Rubeus Hagrid Death Eaters attack Hogwarts and, while trying to fight them, Hagrid's hut is set on fire. First three books

Rubeus Hagrid is introduced in the opening chapter of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. Following the death of James and Lily Potter, Dumbledore entrusts Hagrid with rescuing the infant Harry from his parents' house after their murder by Lord Voldemort. When Minerva McGonagall expresses her concern about the fact that it was Hagrid who would carry Harry to the Dursleys', Dumbledore says that he would trust Rubeus Hagrid with his life, a fact that is demonstrated several times during the series when Dumbledore frequently asks him to carry out secret tasks. Years later, he is tasked to bring the Philosopher's Stone from Gringotts to Hogwarts, and assigned the three-headed dog Fluffy to take care of it. Dumbledore also gives him the task of locating Harry, helping him to find his bearings in the wizarding world and to buy his school things. Hagrid is the first member of the Hogwarts staff to be introduced to Harry before he began attending the school. Hagrid later becomes friends with Ron and Hermione as well. Later in the book,Rubeus Hagrid a hooded person (Professor Quirrell in disguise) gives him a dragon egg to elicit details about Fluffy. Rubeus Hagrid lets slip to Harry, Ron, and Hermione that the way to get past Fluffy is to play music,Rubeus Hagrid for which they use the flute Hagrid himself carved for Harry, which allows them to pursue the potential thief. The three also assist Hagrid after the dragon egg hatches, by helping to remove the baby dragon Norbert, who is taken to live in a dragon sanctuary in Romania where Ron's older brother, Charlie Weasley, works.

Rubeus Hagrid Readers first discover why Hagrid was expelled from Hogwarts in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. It is revealed that Hagrid was a student at Hogwarts at the same time as Tom Marvolo Riddle, the wizard that later became Voldemort. Hagrid was expelled during his third year, after being caught in possession of Aragog, a dangerous acromantula: this already grave crime was worsened due to the belief that it was "The Monster of Slytherin," and that Hagrid had released it from the Chamber of Secrets and,Rubeus Hagrid either intentionally or unintentionally, allowed it to attack and petrify (and in one case, kill) other students. This inaccurate belief was encouraged by Tom Riddle, the actual criminal, who had been using the true monster (a basilisk) to attack students, and who had framed Hagrid to avoid the school being closed. During the events of the book, the Basilisk is unleashed once again and Hagrid is sent to Azkaban prison, as he is believed again to be the responsible for the attacks. However, before being arrested, Hagrid tells Harry and Ron to "follow the spiders",Rubeus Hagrid so that they can meet Aragog and discover the identity of the true monster. After Harry defeats the Basilisk, it is revealed that Ginny Weasley is acting under the influence of Tom Riddle's diary, thus Hagrid is freed from prison.

Following the resignation of Silvanus Kettleburn, the former Care of Magical Creatures professor, Hagrid is assigned to teach the subject in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.Rubeus Hagrid He is also allowed to perform magic again since his name is cleared after the events of the previous book. During his first class, in which he introduces the hippogriffs to third-years, one of the beasts, Buckbeak, attacks Draco Malfoy after the boy insults it. Although Dumbledore manages to prove that Hagrid is innocent, the Ministry of Magic sentences Buckbeak to death. Thus, Hagrid's classes become extremely boring, and Harry, Ron, and Hermione spend some time in getting information that would help Hagrid in Buckbeak's defence. Towards the end of the book, in a plot twist, Hermione uses her Timeturner and, along with Harry, saves both Buckbeak and Sirius Black from unjust fates. Rubeus Hagrid
